Real Madrid have won four matches and drawn a fifth in their last five Liga visits to Espanyol
Real Madrid have racked up five Liga matches in the Espanyol stronghold without tasting defeat. The Whites have always managed to score in the Cornellá-El Prat stadium since it first opened in 2009 and their winning streak equals the best run the Whites have had against Espanyol in their stadium, a record set between 1985 and 1988.
The run of positive results began on match day 25 of the 2008/2009 season. The match against Espanyol, the last duel between the two sides in the Montguïc stadium, ended in a 0-2 win for the Whites. Real Madrid have remained undefeated on Espanyol’s home pitch since the team moved to the Cornellá-El Prat stadium, with nine goals in favour and one against. In addition, the clash on 12 September 2009 marked Espanyol’s first Liga match on their new pitch, where Real Madrid was the first team to score.
